First Day On My Own

Today was our first day on our own - me, Nathan & Faith. No more Gramma to help. And Daddy had to head back to work. Last week I was worried about how I'd handle it. But today has been good! How's it gone?

Well... it started at 2am with a feeding. And then another at 5am. Faith is a bit of a dwaddler and takes almost an hour to eat. I was able to get to go back to bed afterwards each tim. Until Nathan woke at 7am. With Jacob's help last night, I was able to get 6 hours of sleep with just those two interuptions. Not too shabby!

During the day, things went pretty well too. In spite of the broken coffee mug... that was almost full of day old coffee!

And in spite of the diaper explosion that left it's mark on the sliding board and play mat. Oh and all over me and a little boy.

Then there was the coffee pot incident... I put Nathan on the counter so I could toast a bagel for my own breakfast (at 10:30am!). And he DRANK what was in the coffee pot. About a tablespoon of old coffee. Worse yet. He liked it. I've been adamant that Jacob NOT allow Nathan to sip his coffee - the stuff repulses me, and my son doesn't need to like it before he's at least a teenager - preferably an adult. Now I'll never live this one down.

Oh yeah... and there was time I was checking email. Faith was content in her seat. Nathan was quietly playing behind me. Then he came over to climb in my lap with something. Once up, it was obvious he had a fist full of poop. And we were now both wearing it. Oh joy.

Other than all that, it was a relatively uneventful day. Nathan did very well with his little sister stealing some of his cuddle time. And they even napped simultaneously for just over an hour so I could do the same! I'll keep working on getting them to nap together for Nathan's full 3 hour nap time. Or at least 2 of those hours.

And I even got a shower. Granted, it was 4:20 when I did. And I had to share it with a toddler. But hey, I got a shower ;-)

The house may be worse than it was when Jacob left this morning. But on the whole, even it made it through the day without any major incidents and even got a little cleaning.

Two kids aren't nearly as scary as I had feared. In fact, they're rather fun :)
