Last Friday I dyed eggs with the kids. I don't know what I was thinking. Wait. I wasn't thinking. Permanent dye... wiggly toddlers... one adult... Yes, disaster is all that could come of it. At least I thought enough to lay down multiple layers of butcher paper.
Unfortunately, while I did it, Faith grabbed the dye tablets (without me noticing)... and ATE them. Uh huh... she ate two. I got the green one out of her mouth. But the yellow one was history... I think it was the reason for her upset stomach at dinner that night.
Anyways, on to our adventure...
I gave the kids crayons to color the eggs first.
They liked that!
But Nathan thought his crayon was for stabbing the egg!
But Nathan thought his crayon was for stabbing the egg!
Then I mixed up the dyes. Not thinking that the kids would be excited to dunk the eggs AND their hands. Thank goodness at least one of my children is afraid to get their hands gooey. haha
Yes, Faith is wearing a pretty pink dress. A brand new dress...
I told you, I was completely not thinking!!!!!!
Until she reached for the blue dye for the 8th time, and spilled it all over the table... then it dawned on me that dye stains... Somehow I managed to get the dress off her, and clean up the table all without staining a single thing.
None of that slowed Faith down! She just started leaning forward more...
and turned her belly blue, too!
Nathan, on the other hand, was much less messy.
He was bound and determined to use that egg lifter thing.
Even has his tongue working extra hard at it. hehe
Extra, extra hard!
And eventually he got it!
Faith, however, still much prefered her hands-on method.
And before I knew it, it was a game to see how many different colors you could drop the eggs in.
Once upon a time, this was orange.
And these weren't blue. haha
She even turned the bath water blue!!
But they made some pretty cool looking eggs.
A few look tie-dyed.
After a bath, when the eggs were dry,
I let the kids finish decorating them with stickers.
We made 6 eggs total. Only 4 survived the children.
And they looked pretty unique!
Next year, we're going outside. We're wearing trashbags. And rubber gloves.
And I'm bringing 4 other adults along to help.
lol
The kids had a BLAST.
And, truth be known, so did I.
I was quite an experience.

you are really lucky.
Hey Kim. I hope all is well with you in TX. Your kids look like they had a wonderful Easter. I am following your blog. I cannot believe how bigs your kids are getting.

I love how Faith starts with this cute dress on, but quickly loses it in favor of something a little easier to wash off- skin! :) Glad you had a good time!
