Friday we went to the zoo with some friends. It was hot - but lots of fun.
Well, when I knew where both children were, it was fun.
The 3-4 minutes (that felt like eternity) when I lost Faith... that was not fun.
But she was found and was safe, and got a 30 minute hug.
And, on the whole, it was a good trip :)
The bears were pretty active that day.
And they mesmerized Faith.
Most of the other animals thought it was too hot to move.
And eventually, so did we, so we stopped to eat lunch.
Nathan ate the ham and cheese off his sandwich.
Then got creative and made strawberry sandwiches with the bread!
He thought that was such a tastey idea, that he ate the strawberries
and saved his bread to make another strawberry sandwich. lol
While in the preschool play area, the kids went fishing for magnetic fish.
Faith decided the old fashioned hand method worked best.
And Nathan realized that using his hand to attach the fish
worked much better than letting the line dangle. LOL
In the preschool area, there's a prairie dog exhibit.
Usually the little guys are no where near the observation areas.
But Friday, one was trying his best to figure out an escape plan.
He was standing, not only on his hind legs, but he actually got up on his tippy toes,
trying to see over the edge.
He caught Faith's attention. And soon Faith caught his attention.
Just after I took this pic, the two had a twenty second staring contest.
Faith won. And the prairie dog ran off - his escape plan twarted by a one year old.
We left the indoor area, and headed towards water play.
There's a play beach that was really crowded, so we went to the play campground.
There was no one there - including Faith!!!!!!!!
I thought she was in the stroller until Nathan said "Sis?? Sis??"
Panic struck. I ran through that preschool area - without time to stop to talk to security - but they caught on to what was going on. I as ran and prayed, I was unaware that the whole park was looking for her, and shutting down for the emergency. I found her - happily playing off on her own in the empty farm area. She was as happy as could be, till she heard the panic in my voice. I've thanked God a million times that she was OK! And she hasn't left my sight since.
After that experience, we headed back to the campground
to play in the creek with our friends.
One of the little boys sat in the water,
and soon my kids thought that was a cool idea too - literally.
Good thing I packed changes of clothes :)
After our dip in the creek, it was time to head home.
It was a busy morning. Everyone was tired.
So home we went, to nap!
