Chesapeake Children's "Museum"

Today we went to the Chesapeake Children's Museum. I use the word "museum" lightly. It's really just an old house full of the city's hand-me-down preschool toys, with a few animals thrown in for petting. Nothing fancy... or modern... or we'll kept-up... but a great indoor place to take the kids to play for a little while. And Grampa came with us to watch and play with the kids. I know it wasn't an overly exciting trip for him... but the kids enjoyed hanging out with him!
Of course, Nathan was drawn to the train table!

And both kids liked the turtles. Nathan's getting braver with animals... at least he was good until the turtle got spooked and ran back into the water. Yes - it ran! Apparently turtles aren't always slow! Toddlers have the ability to make lots of things run away ;-)

Grampa helped the kids touch the turtles.

Even Nathan touched them - twice!

Nathan even pet the bunny, without any persuasion from us.
And Faith could have watched the bunny for hours!

One room in the house has a grocery shopping area, with some baby dolls, baby accessories, and a little play kitchen, too. Faith discovered the stroller and jsut wanted to push that around all the time - nothing like a baby walking a baby ;)

Nathan found a wagon and Faith went for a ride with Grampa!

Then Nathan got a ride, too!

There was a room set up to be a play doctor's office. With a giant stuffed person. It had a zipper in it's middle so you could pull out all his organs.... eww... hehe. Faith sat inside the giant man :)

And there was a dress-up room, too. I thought Nathan would love it - since he enjoyed dressing up at halloween so much, but he had no interest going in the room at all! So Faith wore and wig, and I wore a hat for a photo before chasing down Nathan - who was back with the shopping carts and all the play veggies & fruits!

Downstairs was a music room with an old piano that the kids absolutley loved playing with!

They even shared well, and no one tried to push the other off the bench!

And in the hallway was the innards of an old piano - another fun toy to bang on and strum!

And also downstairs were lots of blocks. Faith helped Grampa build a tour, for Nathan to knock over.
