Pacific War Museum

When Granny & Pa came to visit in March, we took a day trip to Fredericksburg, TX. Jacob droWve thru a few months before and was excited to take us to a few places - especially the National Museum of the Pacific War.

Once we arrived in Fredericksburg, we stopped for lunch in a courtyard by some art galleries. After our picnic, we peeked in one of the galleries ... I knew art wasn't cheap but whoa....... I still can't believe people really pay those prices!!!!! Needless to say, we held the kids' hands very tight and there was no touching! I like owning a house and two vehicles, I refuse to trade those things for a torn canvas or broken knickknack. We didn't stay long. Instead, we walked down to the museum.

For a small little bed & breakfast tourist town, it has a very nice museum!!
The National Museum of the Pacific War was well done and took over a couple buildings. Your ticket gets you in for 48 hours - cause it would take that long to see it all. Jacob & his parents enjoyed it most. Nathan was pretty happy hanging out with Daddy and holding on to the personal tour-guide phone thingie. And Ruth enjoyed a long nap in the baby bjorn while riding on Daddy as he walked thru the museum. But Faith.... well, she didn't quite have the attention span.... and no offense to history, but neither did I. So Faith & took off and went window shopping through the couple blocks of touristy stores - there was some neat stores!!! Anyways... back to the museum:

There were a few airplanes in the museum that the kids liked.
I didn't take many pics because flashes weren't allowed and I was busy keeping Faith happy.

Outside the museum were lots of pieces of equipment that kids were allowed to climb on. Faith had no interest... but Nathan thought they were cool.

Here's Faith trying to explain to Nathan that he's suppose to put his feet in the foot rests by her left hand. But Nathan tried to explain to Faith that he's legs were too short. It's also cute to listen to their conversations with each other. They use few words, and most are jumbled, but they follow each other's train of thought perfectly.

I don't know what any of the equipment was... I know, I should. Sorry.

Although Faith and I were only in the museum about an hour - while others were there till it closed - I still did learn quite a bit about the war. Especially Pearl Harbor.

But I also learned that I really like Fredericksburg... :)  And if ever we get a weekend, or just one night, where Jacob & I can get away... I'd love to go back and spend the night. I might even be willing to spend hours at the museum to see what Jacob missed. And then he can enjoy window shopping with me after ;-) hehe
