Random Conversations

We're making good progress on all the work there is to do in our new home. By the end of the week, 3/4 of the upstairs should be painted and ready for move-in. Special thanks to Sandy T for helping unbury me from the pile of paint chips I'd collected... I'd managed to completely overwhelm myself. Who knew there were 3,765 shades of white....?!?! Well, now all the paint colors are picked out - except for one room. We'll figure that room out as we go.

Jacob has successfully painted all the ceilings, and taped/plastic wrapped all the rooms. Except for the one Nathan currently plays in. And Kim has been working on scrubbing the grimmy kitchen, removing doors and priming cabinets. Lots still to do, but I think Thursday night we'll be able to feel accomplished looking at the house. And then we're off for a quick weekend away with Grandparents and Great Aunt Helen/Uncle Mike in Virginia at Smith Mountain Lake.

We had a few random conversations this afternoon while we worked... I thought they might make you laugh too :) I'll let you guess who said what.

"I just wiped latex paint off my teeth"
"Good thing you have a dentist appointment this week"
"Yea, can you image the dentist...
'wow, thats a lot of tartar you have'
No doctor, it's paint.
'no wonder the back of your throat is white.'"

**********************

"Did you know your nose hairs are white?"
"Yeah, I had some serious latex boogers last night!"

**********************

"Why do you have more paint on you when I'm the one who painted more?"
"I don't have more paint on me, just my hands."
"Yea, you have more paint on you!"
"That's because you already cleaned yourself up"
"True"
"Plus, I think you have more paint in you."
"At least I can't taste it anymore"

Then, I noticed today that someone scratched writing into the wall by the hall toilet.... It says "I'm hungry and still angry." Hmm... wonder what the story behind that is...

Finally... remember that great deal on ceramic tile we got??? Well, we were looking at the downstairs bathroom, giving Sandy T a tour... and I commented that it was bigger than I'd remembered. Would we have enough tile - we only had 1 partial box - that's all they had. Jacob said we had 16 square feet. There is no way that is enough!!

Then it dawned on me... the box was for 18 square feet. It was missing 2 tiles. But when we did our math, we based it on 18 square feet. While in the store, genius me said "18 square feet... that's 9x9, right?" Genius #2 said "yup - that's plenty, no way that bathroom is 9x9!" So we snatched it up! Umm... yea... I think you see our faulty math. 9x9 is NOT 18... 9+9 is... but uh... yeah... we're pathetic. Yes, I was once on the math league. And yes, my husband IS an engineer. And yes, we now have a partial box of ceramic tiles that we can't do anthing with - we can't get more, that's all they had left and it was on clearance. No refunds. Good thing it was just $5! And even better thing that our math was better when we figured out how much of the other tile we needed for the kitchen.
