Please Pray

No, he's not my child. This is Grason. He's the 3 year old son of my life-long friend, DeAnn. This was taken at Christmas - it's the best pic I have of him. I'm sharing this because he needs your prayers!

Grason is 3 years old. Almost a month ago, he fell in his backyard. He broke one bone in one arm. And 2 bones in the other. He broke his nose. And had a 1 1/2 inch facture in his skull!! Things got worse when he ended up with both arms put in casts to his shoulders, viral meningitis and spinal fluid leaking from his broken nose, due to a tear on his brain! He spent more than a week at Children's Hospital in Birmingham before being sent home, healed from the meningitis on seemingly to be on the road to recovery.

Yesterday his nose began to leak spinal fluid again. He's back at Children's Hospital and they've detirmined the skull fracture is worse than first diagnosed. The only way to stop the spinal fluid from leaking is to fix it with surgery. And that requires an incision from one ear to the other! The surgery, if successful, will also cause him to lose his sense of smell & taste, permanently.

Surgery is scheduled for around 7-8am central time and will last 5 hours. He'll remain in ICU for a number of days after that.

PLEASE PRAY for this family! For God's comfort during this time. For a successful, safe surgery tomorrow. For their other children. For their financial burden. For peace. For the surgeon's wisdom. For Grason as he recovers. For Grason's patience as he doesn't understand any of what is happening to him. For everything.

Some of you have asked about writing a not to this family. Or sending them a monetary gift. If you want to do that, I'd be happy to give you their address. Just email me. But more than anything, please PRAY. Pray tonight, pray tomorrow morning. Pray as he recovers.

1 John 5:14-15 says "And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him."

Thank you for praying for this precious boy!
