Gingerbread Boy

While we were in Maryland, I had to sneak out to a CVS to get some more baby tylenol for Faith. Between her incoming molars and a fever she had for a few days, we were going through the stuff fast!

While at CVS I had $8 more to spend - 8 FREE dollars, I should say. Between coupons, sales, a raincheck and ECB's from CVS. Have I mentioned how I love playing the drugstore game, and getting so much stuff (we use!) for free?? :) Anyways, low and behold, Gingerbread houses were on sale for $8. So we got a free gingerbread house kit to let Nathan decorate while at Gramma & Grampa's. They can make it a centerpiece, a decoration, anything they want and will remember their grandson when they see it throughout the Christmas season this year. I can guarantee one thing... they won't be eating it. Not after seeing how Nathan made it. LOL.

Nathan had a great time decorating it. I'd pipe on some icing, give him a bowl of candy and he'd put the candies where he wanted. He did REALLY good!

And he made some pretty serious looking faces while he worked :)

But there were lots more smiles - mostly because he was sneaking candy for himself.

Lots of candy! And when he'd get caught, he'd take it out of his mouth and put it on the house. lol See... I told you, Gramma & Grampa won't be eating that gingerbread house! :)

But Faith sure wanted some!

Nathan was quick to claim his house,
push his sisters hand away and scream "No, Sis!"
Yes... he can say "sis", "daddy" even "gramma" now...
and still its a rarity to hear "Momma" Good thing I love that kid ;-)

Nathan was creative with the windows.
I outlined them in icing, but he opted to put the candies in the windows.
Turned out pretty cute. So I added a window ledge - but he did everything else.

Then when all the candies had been eaten, or licked and put on the house, it was time for one finishing touch... Mommy piped some icicles on the roof like and all was complete!

At least until gum drops and M&Ms slowly started disappearing...
Then I pushed it further back on the counter, out of reach from a certain 2 year old I know ;-) It was a good thing I got a picture of the completed house while all the candies were still entact! Cause it didn't stay that way very long, at all.

But it's still pretty good - especially for a 2 year old!
Great job, Nathan!
