This past Saturday, Jacob & I went to a fancy awards dinner for his work. It was a great excuse to get all dressed up and go out on a nice date. There was an awesome dinner, and then a presentation of the award for Transportation Engineer of the Year - yes, I realize Jacob's not a transportation engineer, but we got to go anyways! During dinner, the award recepient had a speech that was interesting too - he didn't talk about engineering much at all. But talked about his family and shared some funny stories. And mentioned, a number of times, how Christ was most important to him and his family - and how he strived to do business in a way that honors his Lord, Jesus Christ. That was awesome to hear - he was unashamed to share that to hundreds of his coworkers, and fellow engineers from dozens of other companies in San Antonio!!
After dinner there was a casino night. They had tons of casino games rented out. And we were each given $500 in play money to go have fun. At the end of the night, you could trade in $250 worth of chips for a raffle ticket to put in one of a dozen prizes - like a cruise, a 50'' plasma, a grill, etc, etc. So we got to go have fun gambling away fake money. Jacob & I walked around checking out the various games and we landed on black jack - it was the only game we both sort of understood. We learned most of the rules while we played, and had fun at it. When casino night was over, we'd turned our $1,000 combined play money into $1,260 worth of chips. Woo hoo! We got 5 raffle tickets, and of course, won nothing. Oh well. It was a fun night, doing something different with my husband! And now I can say we gambled away $1,000 ;-) Don't worry - we have no desire to go to vegas and try out our new blackjack skills with real money. We'll stick with the play money ;-)
Well, I didn't take a single photo that night... sorry. But, Nathan found my shoes on Monday and, while I put Faith down for a nap, he tried them on. I turned to leave the room, after Faith was down, and was surprised to see him standing there, with a giant smile, wearing my heels. lol
So I grabbed the camera and tried to take some photos of him.
"Momma, look at my shoes!"
What a silly little boy :)
