For us? We're staying put. Some friends are coming over later for dinner, though. I'll post pictures from that later. But I thought I'd give you a taste of our Thanksgiving day now.
The kids are sporting "new" shirts. Silly turkey shirts!
I'm pretty happy with how they turned out - as long as I don't post close-up photos of them... lol I thought making the shirts would be a fun one afternoon project for me... ha ha ha
I couldn't find brown shirts in their size anywhere. So I dyed some white shirts. That was a pleasantly easy experience. But trying to iron-on felt to the shirts... not such fun. Now I know you can't use iron-on stuff for felt... oh well. Fabric glue is sure to work, right?? Not. So that left sewing... so much for a quicky project. I thought I'd get "fancy" and use the zig zag stitch... my sewing machine either hates me, or the zig zag stitch. Or both. And all that iron-on stuff and glue probably didn't help it much... So the zig zags on the back feathers aren't so pretty (close up). But I eventually gave up and hand stitched the front - and that turned out ok. So... 6 days after I wanted to be done, the shirts are done and the kids love them :) Too bad they weren't done sooner - they would have looked cute being worn to school or out grocery shopping ;-) But our adorable kids turn enough heads and get lots of "aww" and "ooh"s already from strangers. They are pretty stinkin' cute, with ot without silly turkey shirts ;-)
So the kids are ready for Thanksgiving. They've got their shirts. And their placemats that we made last week. And, oh yeah, the pies that they've been eyeing all day. And I think Nathan may have even dreamt about the apple pie... cause that was the first thing he talked about this morning, too. LOL
We have so much to be thankful for! Wonderful kids, a great family, lots of friends. An awesome house, good food (and as Nathan would remind me, pies) and one incredibly awesome God who has graciously given all that (and more!) to us. We are blessed. And we pray you are feeling just as blessed, too!
