So far, I'm going on 50 minutes of sleep in the last 32 hours... needless to say, I'm going to keep this short. I've uploaded a few favorite pics from yesterday for those of you not on facebook, and I'll share more details (and pictures) another day. But since Ruth is sleeping with a full belly, hopefully I will be able to catch a few winks, too. That is, until the vitals tech, the photographer, the housekeeper, the OB, the pediatrician, the lab tech, the birth certificate person, the physical therapist or the newspaper delivery man wake me up... give them 3 minutes after I close my eyes, someone is sure to knock...
Baby was still breech when we got to the hospital...
so that meant going thru with a c-section. Here's Jacob holding Ruth while I got stitched up.
Baby and mommy in recovery - the first chance I got to hold her.
Proud poppa - it's fun to watch Jacob with his newest daugher ;)
She's got him wrapped around her little fingers already!
That evening, after settling into our room, Jacob headed out to get the kdis from the sitter's house and bring them over to meet their baby sister. They were tickled!!
And in awe.
They'll make great big siblings to baby :)
Then we took a fun photo to announce baby's name.
The kids & Jacob have been fighting for "Ruth." Yesterday morning, the kids were all but chanting it - "rooft, rooft, rooft." Jacob promises me he didn't suggest the name to them... or brainwash them into refusing all other names but Ruth. And how could I fight for another name when I don't have another idea and don't stand a chance when it's 3-to-1 :) Ruth is slowly growing on me. I know in a month, it'll be hard to imagine her with any other name. And the older kids are delighted by her name, too.
I'll share more of her birth story and photos soon. In the mean time, enjoy these precious pics of our newest little Christmas blessing. It's already hard to imagine life without her, and she's only 25 hours old! Thank you all for your prayers and shared joy, too!!
