I'm in the local newspaper this morning!!! I am so tickled, I had to share with you all :)
There's a local woman, Karen, who has been couponing for about 4 years. Her friend, a columnist for the Spartanburg Herald Journal, asked to do a story on her savings adventures. And Karen insisted that Gary (the writer) talk to me, too. I'd never met Karen before. She follows the savinginspartanburg.com website that I run. One day we need to get together to go on a major couponing trip or something ;-)
Anyways, the article is huge - it takes up the majority of 2 full pages in the paper. And there's even a little teaser on the front page!! They even included a mugshot of me - they cropped the pic of me standing, holding up a 6 foot tall receipt ($250 worth of groceries that I paid 22 cents for) and there's also a picture of the bottom of a receipt from my $172 grocery trip that I paid 12 cents for (which they got off my website).
If you're interested in reading the article, here's the link: http://www.goupstate.com/article/20100502/ARTICLES/5021008. Although there are about 6 pictures in the newspaper, only one made it online. Thankfully it's not the one of me ;-)
But there were some things in the article that are worded weird... he made me sound really awkward in some of my quotes. And edited out all my comments about helping people have hope to save money AND hope to be saved by Christ. And he made it sound like my coupon classes have paid for everyone in our group (50+ peoploe) going to WY for the mission trip this June. Thats not true - classes have only paid for about 80% of Jacob & I's costs, alone. But we've been able to give some of the other profits to teens going to Greece, and our Sunday School's local mission opportunities to the homeless shelter and other little things.
Oh well about the accuracy - I'm tickled to have so much space in the paper. I'd of been tickled with just one line :)
