The last two weeks have been Fiesta time in San Antonio! I'm really not sure what that means... I know enough to know that there were events all over town, most hosted by non-profit organizations as a way to raise funds. Aside from raising money for non-profits, it seems as though Fiesta is really just an excuse to drink... But there were some children's related events. We only made it to one this year - the kids are too young to really enjoy the other things. And I didn't feel like fighting crowds downtown with two toddlers.
Our church has a school and the school hosted a "Fiesta Fest" one Saturday, and we went. For those friends from SC, it was a lot like AMRBC's Fall Fest, but you have to pay for everything - remember... it was a fundraiser ;-) They had some unique games and events for older kids and adults. But there was still plenty for our kids' age. Like bounce houses!
There were bounce houses for the kids - Nathan loved them!
One, for his age, had a slide on it too - a favorite for Nathan!
Faith, on the other hand, was very hesitant. She normally loves bounce houses, but this day she didn't always want to go in. And she thought long and hard about going down the slide. Normal Faith would have jumped without thinking... but for some reason Faith was too cautious and never did go down the slide.
There were lots of games for toddlers and preschoolers to play.
Like the lollipop tree. And the football toss.
There was a basketball game, too.
Nathan didn't quite understand the rules... see the line on the ground, thats where toddlers were suppose to stand. Oops. On the plus side, he was the first child to get 3 out of 3 goals. hahaha
And there was a cake walk.
I went with Nathan, thinking he'd love it. As soon as the music began, he screamed and hated it. We didn't win.
Jacob did the car bash.
I think he may have been the only adult to... at least I think he was the first ;-)
He was discouraged that no one had gone after the roof yet.
So he had to do something about that...
Something like this... hehe
While Nathan played more in bounce houses, I took Faith to go get some cotton candy.
Neither of the kids have had it before.
Faith liked it, but after her first helping was gone, she wasn't interested in more.
Nathan, on the other hand, wasn't interested in the cotton candy at all.
But he carried it around with him as we walked around the festival.
And finally, about the time it was just a hard clump, he tried it.
And loved it. And wanted more. ha!
It was a fun Saturday at Fiesta Fest. But it was very warm - in the mid 90s.
In early April. We're doomed this summer....
