Our House - Almost

Most of you know we've been house hunting since February. And we finally had an offer accepted a few weeks ago on a home. It's not too far from where we live now, just closer to stores, many friends, and traffic (ug!)... but it's outside the city limits, so that means lower taxes - yay! And as far as traffic goes... there's really no many places to go to avoid it!

Anyways, I know a number of you have expressed interest in seeing pics of the house. So that's what this post is all about!! :)  It's not officially our house yet... we will hopefully close at the end of the month.

After we close, we'll be doing some remodeling before we move in... removing all the old carpet that is full of holes, bleach stains and cigarette smoke. We're putting new carpet upstairs and laminate flooring in the living areas downstairs. All the kitchen & bathroom floors will remain (for now). And we're painting the WHOLE house.

Then we'll hopefully move in at the end of May. And you're ALL welcome to come help!! hehe  We'll feed you and give you places to sleep ;)

Well... on to photos!

Here's the front of the house - it's brick. Like a grayish blue color.
Funny note... see that round window all the way in the top left?
That's KB's signature (so we know KB built this house).
But for some reason the buyers didn't like it... so they walled it up.
When you look in the window, all you see is the wall support for the closet
that is on the otherside of that window... funny builders....
Guess it saves us from figuring out window coverings for a round window. lol

So you walk in the front door, into this living room.
That's the front door there on the right.

Here's a view of the same living room, but the photo is taken from those front windows.
The room opens up into the next room (family room? dining room??), with the stairs in the middle. Oh, and that's our realtor - Carol ;-)

Walk around the stairs, and you're in the dining room? family room?
The stairs are there on the right. There's a coat closet under them.
And a half bath behind them (the door is open)
There's a sliding glass door on the left (you can see the sunlight on the floor)
And it looks into the kitchen.

Voila!  La Cocina.
Ick on the maple cabinets... I'm no fan of maple.
But at least it has a nice floor & countertop color ;-)
And you can see the door that leads to the pantry & garage.

This is the breakfast area of the kitchen - it juts out like a triangle.

Behind the kitchen is a pantry/utility room. There's lots of shelves for food & stuff.
And directly opposite of it (no pic) is hook ups for a washer & dryer.
There's also another window in there.

Keep going through the pantry/utility room and you're in the two car garage.

Now backtrack with me... we'll go back into the dining room/family room (still not sure what it'll be)

There it is. And there's Carol again. "Hi, Carol!"
You can see the sliding glass doors on the right.
They lead to a big (250 sq ft?) deck in the backyard.

And the deck... this is half of it. The other half looks the same - it continues to the right.
And there's a dog house in the backyard. The former owners were funny - they built it to match their house, with the same color bricks. Any one want a dog house??

Enough of of the backyard... lets go upstairs.

When you get to the top of the stairs, if you go straight, you're in what will be the guest room. If you go left, you run into french doors that lead to the master bedroom (which could really be a master suite.... it's enormous!). And if you look right, this is what you see. There's a bedroom there with the door open. Then a full bathroom (door mostly closed) and then to the right (you can't see if, cause it's behind that wall), is bedroom #4.

Immediately to the right of the steps is a loft. This photo was taken from in front of that water heater closet (the half door from the photo above). This will make a great rec room for the kids :)

On to the master... there's one of those french doors I mentioned.
This is 1/3 of the master bedroom. I told you, it's enormous.
We weren't looking for a big master bedroom... I'd prefer to take the extra space and add it to the kitchen or something. But the house had everything we wanted, at the price we wanted, so I guess we'll sacrifice with a big master... lol

Here's more of the master bedroom.
It's above the kitchen, so it has that same triangle element.
There's more room to the left of this pic.
And then there is a a HUGE closet that could easily make for a kids bedroom.
Yes, it's that big. In fact, 3 of the 4 berooms have really big closets. That will com in handy :)
And there's a regular bathroom in the master bedroom, too.
Nothing fancy, so no pics, sorry.

Well, that's if for my tour.
I hope you enjoyed it.
I'll post more pics when the flooring & paint gets done.
Or, you could just come help us move and see if for yourself ;-)
