Uncle Dave, the spoiler (that's a good nickname!) and his new wife, Aunt Kristen, got Nathan a big red birthday present! It came in the mail yesterday. So Mommy put it together before dinner and hid it on the deck. After dinner, we skyped with Uncle Dave to let him watch Nathan "open" his birthday present. But Aunt Kristen wasn't going to get home from work till well after the kids were in bed (silly time zones), so I video taped it just for her :)
I dunno if it was the bright setting sun light or the fact that he knew there was a surprise out back for him, but Nathan felt it necessary to cover his eyes as he stepped out the back door.
Whoa! A big wheel!
His greatgrandparents gave us a tricycle a few years ago, but Nathan still hasn't grown big enough to fit on it. He's never been on a bike before. Although he has lots to learn, he didn't need to be taught the idea that he already loves his new bike!
Nathan signed "thank you" to Uncle Dave on the computer
I tried to video tape it all. But, remember, I was managing 2 toddlers, while holding a laptop in one hand and a video camera in the other. All while trying to keep both the laptop and video camera steady so not to make David (on Skype) or Aunt Kristen (who the video is for) nauseous or motion-sick. Oh yeah, and while I video taped the event, and tried to make sure Uncle Dave could watch on skype, I was also trying to take still photos with my regular camera... And I was doing it alone, since Jacob was stuck out of town for work. So no picking on my videography skills - ok? :)
Nathan loves his big wheel. And soon he'll be a pro at riding it. I let him try riding it inside a little last night, since it was still clean - and the sun was really hot & bright. Plus, the back yard is still full of goat heads... and they aren't nice to our bare feet. But even trying to ride inside, he didn't quite get the idea of using the peddles. Tonight we'll try again - since my arms won't be full of a camera, laptop & video camera ;-) Why not try in the mornings? Cause we're at VBS everyday this week - didn't you notice the shirts on the kids ;) If VBS isn't successful at completely wearing Nathan out, riding his new big wheel will put him over the edge. And maybe, just maybe, Mommy will get a treat and the kids will sleep in Saturday??? ha ha ha... who am I kidding.... lol
THANK YOU UNCLE DAVE & AUNT KRISTEN!
