Rehearsal Dinner

Friday night, after the wedding rehearsal, we all went to a family-style restaurant for dinner. It was a large old farm house that had been converted into a restaurant - and boy was it a popular place to eat. With good reason! There were lots of groups waiting to be seated, but heads turned when we heard "Wuenschel, party of thirty-four your table is ready" - lol!  While we waited for our table(s), Granny entertained the kids. Well, at least they made her work!

Nothing like 75 pounds of grandkids in your arms at once!

There was plenty of room in the yard to chase Granny, get caught, and be tickled, too!

Everybody gets a turn at being tickled by Granny!

Once we were seated, platters and bowls of food were set out family style, to be passed around. Nathan ate well. I mean, he ATE WELL!! This little boy who usually doesn't eat a whole lot had been practicing for dinner all day. He ate half a donut, half a waffle, and two bowls of raisin bran for breakfast. Then, after a mid-morning cookie snack, he downed half a sub, 3 helpings of strawberries, 3 pickle spears and a cookie for lunch. And still he had room for an entire plate of ham, green beans, baked beans and chicken at dinner. And 2nds on the mac & cheese. I think he was growing!!!

Did I say "seconds" on mac & cheese? I was mistaken...
He had thirds. And when he was ignoring his food - in favor of watching all the fun people at the table, Daddy rightfully gave the waitress permission to take Nathan's plate away. Which made Nathan scream and cry! He wanted that mac & cheese! So I gave him more 3rds. He ate it up and asked for more. By now, every one else is full, so I let him have 4ths on mac & cheese. He gobbled that up. And asked for MORE! So I gave him the serving bowl with what was left in it! And, you know? He ate that up too!! And he still had room for ice cream soon after. WOW! I'd say he was growing alright.

While Nathan devoured all the mac & cheese in sight, Uncel Jr & soon-to-be Aunt Monica passed out gifts to their wedding party. They gave Jacob a Clemson belt buckle. Which he quite proudly wore to church on Sunday for all to see! Can you blame him? Clemson won Saturday... don't ask me against who... but I think it was a big deal.

And Pa got a belt buckle, too - a chainsaw!

Faith helped Granny open a parent gift.

A photo and poem from the wedding couple :)

After gifts, and dessert, we headed home to the hotel for the night. But not empty handed. The waitress brought Nathan a take-home container with MORE mac & cheese!!! LOL

It was a great rehearsal dinner and tomorrow would be an even better day - Junior & Monica's wedding day!! But I already posted about that ;-)  Don't worry - I've got lots more pics still to post int he coming days. But no more mac & cheese - that's long been gone!
