Vacation - Day 8 (last day!)

Saturday was our last day of vacation - and we heard there was a harbor fest going on in a nearby town, so we headed out there with Grampa, Gramma and some of Gramma's friends who came into town for the wedding.

While waiting in line for lunch, there was a face painting booth set up
I let the kids get their arms painted, and they loved it.

Nathan, of course, asked for a choo-choo.
And Faith, ever the loyal little sister, asked for the same.

Nathan was sooo excited about his train tattoo!!
He kept asking for one on his other arm, too. lol

And Faith was also tickled pink with her choo choo train!
Although she could stay still long enough for it to get as finished as Nathan's, hehe

After lunch, we walked towards the harbor.
There were lots of vendors and boats to see.

We lost Grampa & Gramma in the craft fair, but we just kept on walking down to the beach.
And there was a pier to walk along, that led to a lighthouse, so we kept walking.
I can't believe how well the kids did walking!! Neither wanted to ride in the stroller.

There's the big lighthouse at the end of the pier.

Then when we got back to the beach, I noticed this sign...
uh... good thing we saw it AFTER we walked 1/4 mile on a structure not designed for public access.... lol

We hike the long way back up through the beach, amusement rides, and vendors.
And then back up the city blocks to where we parked. The kids were tired, and so were we
but it had been a fun morning out. And we headed back to the cabin for naps.

After naps, the kids gave Grampa his birthday present - his birthday had been just a few weeks before, but we held onto his gift to give him in person.

His gift from the kids was a hand print painting!
"Grampa's Little Angel Fish" made with the kids' hand & thumb prints

And Nathan helped Gramma open her gift, too.

 "Gramma's Cutie Bugs"
A bee & a butterfly, made with the kids' footprints

After dinner, it was time for some swimming!!
Nathan got his swimsuit out to put on... tehe

Just kidding, he seems to say with his smile!
He knew exactly what he was doing - goofing off for some laughs :)
And Dave & Kristen - notice his backpack?? He still wears it any chance he gets!

We went out to the back porch of the cabin, to the hot tub. Gramma had turned it down
super low for the kids, and the adored playing in the water!!
What a great way to end a fun day, and a wonderful vacation.

Sunday we headed home to TX.
But we'll get to see all the grandparents again in just a few weeks for Uncle Junior's wedding in VA!
The kids & I will spend some time with Gramma & Grampa in MD before we meet up with Jacob and head to VA to visit with Granny, Pa, Aunt Sara, Uncle Josiah, Uncle Junior - and soon-to-be Aunt Monica! We can't wait!
