Lowes offers free kids workshops twice a month - there's a kit the kids get to put together. We've only ever been once before - on Nathan's birthday he made a tow truck. A few weeks ago, fire trucks was on the menu. So we figured it would make a fun family outing. This time we let both kids participate - and we got there early enough that the kids were given aprons, too. Woo hoo.
Two little carpenters to be - and Lowes TRUSTED them with hammers?!?
Maybe, the more important question is why did Mom & Dad trust them, too?!?
Faith was Mommy's building buddy - but she didn't quite grasp how to use that hammer...
And Nathan was Daddy's building buddy.
We had a little family race going... who would finish first?
I helped Faith hold the hammer right - but she wasn't too much help.
Although, she loved it!
And Daddy helped Nathan out - they got a head start on us girls!
But Nathan slowed Daddy down cause he wanted to do every step.

Faith lost interest on and off, so Mommy got a little help gaining the lead :)
Mommy & Faith finished first!! Woo hoo!
And Faith enjoyed playing with her fire truck (it made noise, too)
while we waited on the slow poke boys to finish. ;-)
Uh oh! Someone didn't read the directions!!!
A certain Daddy had a certain boy nail the bottom of the fire truck on upside down... there's no room for the axles now!
Daddy tried as he could to fix it in the store...
but he just didn't have the right tools to fix it without breaking it.
So Nathan had a red box (that made a siren noise) to play with until we got home.
And yet Faith was the one upset and jealous?!?!?
Go figure....
Update... Daddy did fix the fire truck, and now it looks better than Faith's.
Mommy split a piece of wood on her truck's inside, so the siren button doesn't lay flat.
So in the end... Mommy won the race. But Daddy did a better job ;-)
And the kids? They love their trucks!!
