The airport was a nightmare of delays, and our flight fell victim like the rest of them. We had jsut two options:
1 - fly out at 7am from Baltimore to Orlando to Memphis to Houston before finally arriving in San Antonio around 7pm.... um... no thanks.
OR
2 - wait till our flight finally got scheduled to leave.
We opted to wait - but at nearby Gramma & Grampa's house!
The kids got a couple extra hours ofr play time in with Gramma.
And Gramma missed out on her nap - but I think she was ok with that ;-)
And we had dinner and milkshakes with Gramma & Grampa, too.
Finally, our flight got a departure time of 10pm, so we headed back to the airport.
Nathan was still wide awake and all too willing to pull his own luggage and carry his own ticket.
Faith, also, wanted to carry her own bag - the purse Gramma gave her.
She LOVES that thing and lugged it everywhere we went in the airport (and since).
Once at our gate, we still had quite a wait... our plane was scheduled to depart at 10pm. But it didn't arrive until 10:30pm. But they boarded us very quickly, and we soon learned why... And as we boarded, the flight attendant made one announcement many times... "Please put your baggage away and find your seats as quickly as possible, if we can't take off in 15 minutes, our flight crew will be illegal." Um... great. That's encouraging. So our options are to fly with an overtired pilot or wait till morning and spend 13 hours flying all over the eastern seaboard?!? What options... lol
Our flight did take off in time - with a minute to spare. And, thanks be to God that our tired pilots got us to TX safely.
It was a peaceful flight, so peaceful, I lost all my family to sleep. lol And 3 1/2 hours later we were in TX. By 3am, we were home and climbing into our own beds after a long - but fun - vacation to see so many wonderful people that we love.
We miss you, Granny, Pa, Gramma, Grampa, Uncle Junior, Aunt Monica, Uncle Josiah, Aunt Sara, Great Mama & Papa and everyone else!! Thanks for making our vacation so awesome!
