Here we are a the first look out point - Mather, on the south rim. It was 5,000 feet to the river floor below. Watch your step!
Here's the canyon at Bright Angel point, also on the south rim. Its 10 miles from the south rim to the north rim if you could walk on air. If you hike it, its 24 miles. To drive it, its 200 miles! We just admired it!
My mom and sister tried to have a snow smash fight. There wasn't enough snow for snow ball fights. But whose to say you can't smash the cold stuff on a loved one's bare skin??
David, taking pictures of the canyon.
Here we are. Nathan was asleep at this point, warm and snug in his stroller.
Jacob, trying to be funny. The orientals behind us thought this was the funniest thing ever. I couldn't understand them, but they were laughing a lot. But I noticed no one else tried to replicate his photo. I'm just glad I didn't know he was going to do this, or see him jump down there (there was a just little rock to squat on over the cliff).
Here's where Nathan spent the second half of our canyon trip - warm and snug in his stroller.
Sun setting on the canyon.
My Mom and Dad at the canyon.
It is hard to admire the vastness of the great canyon without admiring the infinite wisdom and creativity of our God. We had a number of discussions about how it was created... did the flood do this? If so, wow, what a massive flood!! Or did God create it Himself before the flood? However He did it, we'll probably never understand - all His works are so wise and wonderous. Even the little things He does in our life that aren't as obvious as the grand canyon! He is a great God!
