Anyways, Jacob & I were bursting on the insides with news that we would get to share that day. We sent his parents ornaments to open at their dinner (in LA), they read "I love my grandma/grandpa." But since my parents were with us, I got to be a little more creative in how we broke the news to them. I planned a thanksgiving meal game... everyone had to guess the "little" theme that was in the dinner... here's what was on the menu, besides a few staples, like the turkey, cranberry sauce & potatoes:
- baby spinach salad
- glazed baby carrots
- regular and "baby-sized" rolls
- "baby sized" balls of stuffing
- baby corn on the cob (what you eat in a stir fry)
- a centerpiece made of baby pumpkins & baby indian corns
- and in case no one ever guessed correctly... dessert was a secret platter of cookies that spelled "BABY"
It threw everyone for a loop when I shared that there was a little theme in the meal. The conversation went something like this:
Mom: Is it traditional foods?
Kim: Nope
Mom: Is it Jacob's family favorites?
Kim: No
Mary: I give up
Mom: hmmm...
David: (chuckle - the "I have no idea" kind of chuckle)
Dad: (silent and thinking)
Jacob: (smiling)
Mom: Well, I have no idea. This is going to bug me, I have to figure this out
Kim: Dad, could you please pass the baby carrots? (the suspense was killing me, I had to drop a clue...)
Mom: (contemplative) Baby carrots.... baby spinach.... (still clueless)
Dad: You're pregnant (just as much a statement as a question)
Kim: Yup (big smile)
Mom: OOOOHHH OHHH OHHH OHHHHHH!!!!! (jumps over and over in her seat and starts crying)
Mary: (laughs)
David: (quiet smiles)
Dad: (beaming smile)
And our life has never been the same since!
Once the immediate families knew, it was time to tell everyone else we love. Here's how we did that. We sent an email that said:
Digital camera: $300
Laptop Computer: $2.000
Telling you there are really three people in this picture: priceless

Be safe and have a great trip!
What a wonderful Thanksgiving that was! Now, I wonder what the theme will be this year.
