Big Day

Today's the day. Faith is coming today!

It's 4:45am as I write this. I didn't sleep well last night. But not for the reasons I expected. I thought I'd be too anxious to sleep. No, instead I had to be in labor. It started at 5pm last night. And was on & off again, with contractions every 5 minutes, for a few hours before I called the nurse and she encouraged me to stay home a little longer. I'm glad she did, because soon after the contractions stopped. And the vomitting started. I feel like I have the flu... labor is truly miserable! But am I ever thankful for a husband who is beyond wonderful! And for hardwood floors :)

At 4am, I gave up on sleep. We'll head to Mary Black Hospital at 5:30am, to be induced. I'm pretty sure that shouldn't be too hard at this point. Hopefully it's quick and painless - ha ha ha. But I'll take, quick & with a better epidural than I had with Nathan!

One way or another, a new little Wuenschel will enter the world today - be afraid. Be very afraid.

Nathan is staying home with his Gramma & Grampa came in last night from MD to be here for the big weekend. And hopefully Granny & Pa will have a safe trip down from OH to meet little Faith later this evening!

I will post a picture from the hospital when I can - I found out I can post from my cell phone. Oooh! And we'll share more pictures and stories early next week.

We're expecting to be home Sunday - the doctors warned me since I am a Group B Strep carrier (some 15-40% of women are), that most likely Faith will have to stay for 48 hours of observation to be sure she's OK. Since I'll be on IV antibiotics this morning, the chances she gets an infection will be something like 1 in 4,000. But there's still that slight chance to watch for. But we're hoping that she'll be so obviously healthy that the let us come home Saturday.

Pray for us all - for a safe (and hopefully quick) delivery, for a healthy baby, for Nathan's adjustment, and hopefully a short hospital stay, too.
