Bored With Gourds

Uncle Dave came to visit for the night - on his way to a friend's wedding this weekend. Nathan warmed up to him last night to play, but today he's just not himself. His slight fever is back, and he'd rather sit quietly and cuddle than move around and laugh. We should have known something was up when he stuck his nose up at the waffle Uncle Dave tried to feed him at breakfast.

But we thought a morning out to Niven's Apple Farm would help cheer him up and make him smile. That was not the case...

He wasn't too crazy about the pumpkins. In fact, I think they bored him. He prefered watching the other kids and hanging close to Daddy.

Even the grass was more exciting than the pumpkins!

They didn't even taste so good...

Although he paid a little attention to the kids, the pumpkins and the petting zoo animals, nothing could get him to smile.

Except... stealing daddy's hat almost got a one.

And riding the stationary tractor came close, too. I think he knew it was the wrong color - my in-laws have taught me green is bad. But even if it had been an orange Allis-Chalmer's tractor, I still don't think that could have made Nathan smile today.

Uncle Dave tried with silly faces and noises.

And Mommy & Daddy tried, too.

He's just still not feeling like himself today. But that hasn't stopped him from enjoying time with his Uncle Dave:
