Children's Museum

We have a membership to the local children's museum here in SA. And we've only been twice so far this year... So when school got out early a few weeks ago, I figured it'd be the perfect day to go. I didn't take a good camera, just my pocket thing - so sorry for some blurry pics.

When we arrived, there was a toddler activity about to start. We've been there before - the leader always has a story and songs, and then some great age appropriate activities. This particular day, it was the activities leader's birthday. So she threw herself a birthday party with the kids!

The kids each decorated a party hat. Faith then wore it throughout the rest of our visit to the museum. Nathan made me carry his. ha ha  They'd still have those hats today if it weren't for the fact that they kinda "accidently fell" into the trash can last week ;) They were so proud of those hats and wore them a lot! But they were starting to fall apart. They certainly got plenty of play out of them!!

There were also cupcakes for the kids to decorate with icing and sprinkles.

Or just eat the icing... lol

I'm pretty sure Faith never even tasted her cupcake. Just the icing ;)

The kids got party noise makers and put together goodie bags too.
(Remember those silly glasses from a few posts ago? They came from those goodie bags)

After our party, we stopped for diaper changes and a potty break. Ruth LOVED the mirror. She could have just stayed in the bathroom for out whole visit.... hehe

Nathan's favorite spot was the ball gallery.
There's plastic balls that you can put in dozens of different contraptions as you learn some basic engineering and physics. Can you tell which balls Nathan always went out of his way to gather?? yup... yellow. His favorite color, there's no doubt about that! :)

Faith also enjoyed the ball exhibit,
though most of it was a bit above her head (literally and figuratively).

All the balls, regardless of where they start, get funneled into a giant bucket. And every few minutes, the alarm goes off and the bucket empties out - all over the kids. Nathan loved those avalanches!

We played with lots of musical instruments that we don't normally get to see there.

Organs. Chimes. Whistles. Bells. Horns. Xylophones.

They loved banging... I mean playing... all the instruments.
One day, when we eventually get a piano, they'll have to learn to be more gentle :)

In the tot's room of the museum, there was a bubble tube that lit up in different colors and had some fake fish floating in it. Ruth was in awe of it. She couldn't stop staring at all the colorful bubbles!

And Faith's favorite? The water room. There's bubbles to blow or stand in.
And a big water table to play with boats and ducks in. She loves that room!

The kids really do enjoy the children's museum. We'll have to make it a point to make it back one more time before our membership expires at the end of the month. It's so far away - and not free to park - that we just don't go often. It's usually pretty crowded, too. Crowds + 3 kids by myself... its not usually a happy mix. But that particular day, all 4 of us had a great time :)
