Ruth is 5 Months Old!

Ruth is 5 months old!! I know... she's been 5 months old for half a month now... but I'm just now finishing the post I started 2 weeks ago :)

What is Ruth like now?

She's 26 inches tall.
And 18lbs

Ruth still sleeps all night, usually 8pm-8am. And she easily soothes herself to sleep for both naps & bedtime. It's awesome. Beyond awesome. How on earth did I get sooo blessed with a baby that sleeps soooo well?!?! I dunno, but I sure hope it keeps up for the many many years to come :)

She still eats well, too. Ruth's still taking 6oz bottles, 6 times a day. I find it amazing that as long as she gets 36oz a day, she's good. For example, on occasion, she might drink just 2oz of her noon bottle... and so she'll want a 7th bottle that night, but will only drink 4oz - just enough to give her exactly 36oz a day. Incredible.

Ruth's gotten pretty predictable, not just when how much she eats, but when.  She still eats every two hours - almost always, 4 times in the morning and 2 times after a 3-4 hour mid-day nap. That's right, a 3-4 hour mid-day nap! Nap times are back - woo hoo!! And they overlap the naps of her big sibs - so awesome!

Ruth just started on some rice cereal. I waited longer with Ruth than the other kids for different reasons. Ruth had almost zero problems with a spoon at first. Though she's not a big fan of solids... But lets be honest, who really likes rice cereal mush?? I'll post her first food pics soon.

Ruth is wearing anywhere from size 9month-12months. Although a few 6 months onsies still fit, too. And shoes? She still doesn't fit size 2 shoes. We don't own any 1's - but my guess is she wouldn't fit those yet, either. She's got such little feet - they're precious! She's still in size 2 diapers, too - which is great for our diaper budget ;)

Ruth absolutely loves her exersaucer - she's good at turning around in it to find the toy she wants, or, most common, the person she wants to watch. And she's recently been introduced to the doorway bouncer, too - which she equally loves.

What she really loves though are people and faces! Still. From day one she's been content as long as she has a face to stare at. And she's no different today. And it doesn't matter who the face belongs to either. Although, she certainly has her favorites - like Daddy & Nathan! This makes it very easy to drop her off in the nursery at church - she goes right to Ms Annette or Ms Casey. Those ladies are great with her :)

Ruth LOVES to talk too. She is the most verbal of all our kids, talking to herself with all kinds of jibber jabber. And she loves to talk to people, too - especially in the evenings before bed.

Ruth is such a happy baby. Very little makes her upset - a dirty diaper, a rumbly belly, and something that startles her (like a sneeze or scream). Sometimes she'll get fussy in the mornings or evenings when she needs a 20 minute snooze. But the rest of the day? She's an angel!

Ruth is learning to grab things. She'll grab anything you put near her, and enjoys playing with toys, especially if she can chew on them. She's recently discovered that her feet reach her mouth, too :)

I think she's going to get a tooth soon. She has seemed to be teething off and on for a few weeks now. Lots of drool, a little extra crankiness at times, a little congestion (but not sick) and a little ear pulling on her right side (but no infection). All things her big sibs did when their teeth came in. We'll share the news when her first tooth arrives :)

Ruth loves to bounce on our lap, or "fly" high in the air. She loves to be carried, swung and rocked. She still falls asleep on her belly. Though, she's an active sleeper. Everytime I check on her, she's in a different position. She seems to most like sleeping on her side, once she's asleep - usually with her arms in all kinds of positions.

Her eyes are still a blue-gray color. They've yet to turn brown - maybe they wont??? We'll see. Her hair hasn't changed either, it's still short and dark.

I can't think of much else to share about our precious Ruth. She is a joy to our family. Her big sibs adore her - especially Nathan, I just love to watch him watch Ruth :)  First thing when Ruth wakes in the morning, or from a nap, Nathan is often first to greet her with a great big "Hi, Ruthie bear!" Faith is very protective of her sister, too, calling her "my Ruth" and helping me get things Ruth needs (diapers, bibs, etc). We are mightily blessed with three amazing kids! I love and adore them all, and thank God that they love each other so much too!
